Printmaking Summer Camp - Ages 8-11 - Half Day

The Printmaking Camp will integrate the modern technology of 3D printing with the traditional art form of block printing. Students will learn a basic form of computer-aided design (CAD) to create “digital printing plates” which will then be printed in PLA using 3D printers. Students will learn the art of how to apply ink to the plates with leather and quartz daubers and then use a hand-crank press to transfer ink from plates to fabric and paper. The printed fabric can be used for designs in the Summer Sewing Camp. Instructor Alex Goss is an award-winning artist who will insure students gain the printmaking skills to explore their creative potential.

All materials, tools, and machines will be provided for both half-day camps. At the end of the week, parents can enjoy the morning fashion show or the afternoon art show produced by our talented students, showing off the work they have created!

Craft Happy Houston and TXRX Labs are teaming up to offer integrated maker camps. The half-day camps will feature a morning Sewing Camp 9am-12pm and an afternoon Printmaking Camp 1pm-4pm. Parents can enroll children for one or two half-day sessions. Supervision will be provided over the lunch hour (12pm-1pm) for students enrolled in both half-day camps. The half-day camps will be tailored for two age levels: Camp for children ages 8-11 will be held Monday June 13th through Friday June 17th, and Camp for children ages 12-15 will be held Monday June 20th through Friday June 24th.
