In this class students will learn advanced surface work techniques and the methods needed for physical form making. These skills will be applied to create a leather pouch.
Instruction for surface work will cover stamping & embossing, including patterning with stamping tools, prototyping patterns, and transferring premade patterns. Students will also learn how to form shapes with freehand carving and create relief images in leather.
During the construction phase of class, students will learn how to account for material thickness, how to prototype folds, and how to miter edges. Lastly, students will sew and finish their project.
