Bio: Richard Carter

Richard Carter is perhaps best known for "The Sashimi Tabernacle Choir", a Volvo covered with 250 computer controlled animatronic singing fish and lobsters. In addition to appearances at art events and festivals throughout the nation, the car has been awarded 10 "Editors Choice" ribbons at Maker Faires since 2008. In 2012 he co-taught the first Art Car course ever offered at Rice University. Richard also serves as a judge for FIRST robotics both in regional events and in the Championship in St. Louis. He has degrees in physics and mathematics, and received his PhD in Computational and Applied Mathematics at Rice University. He is NOT an artist, but has no choice but to play one on TV whenever he takes his car anyplace new.
