This course will cover the basics of laser cutter principles and operation. Students will learn proper safety protocols for use of the laser cutter and also build a simple project to become familiar with techniques for construction using the laser cutter. Materials will be provided,

* Fee Notes: Includes cost of materials and machine time for production of a sample project Prerequisites: Some 2d/Cad drafting experience. The Intro to 2d Cad/Drafting class is suggested for those who dont have some basic CAD experience.

Why is this class being taught the day BEFORE the prerequisite course? I'd like to take both, but am unsure if my skill level would be sufficient.

That is a good question, the info from the 2d cad class isnt needed at the time of the laser cutting class since we provide files to cut so this class is more about learning laser cutter operation. But once you want to start making your own files to cut on the laser cutter then we highly suggest having some 2d cad experience. i.e. taking them out of order has no ill effects. I will update the prereq note to this effect, thanks for the question.
