Brazing I : Oxy/ Acetylene 101: Heating, Cutting, Brazing

Oxy/ Acetylene equipment is a useful but dangerous tool in the welding shop. Come to class and learn how to operate the equipment safely and expand your fabrication skills! This equipment can be used to do light blacksmithing, cut through thick material, and join very thin and or dissimilar metals through the process of brazing! The class will cover safety, proper set up, heating demo and practice time, cutting demo and practice time, and bronze brazing demo and practice time. We will only be brazing steel joints in this class because they are the easiest to learn on. We will introduce dissimilar and non ferrous metals in Brazing 2!

Brazing is a great simple and easy way to attach dissimilar metals, connect thin of complex structures where welding would lead to warping or other issues. Brazing can also be done in many cases with extremely cheap and available equipment unlike specialized welding machines.
